Pros

Insurance benefits were pretty good for exempt employees

Cons

Before joining the group, I had thought that it was normal that bad managers might exist in a company more or less. However, I hadn't expected that a manager could be so horrible as mine, who's totally a drama person making up a lot of fake scenerios/stories to attack anyone she/he disliked. Below are some summaries. They may not be complete, but I just wanted to offer some ideas how terrible this "particular" manager was: -Nano-management. i.e., she/he checked instantly what time you went to the restroom, and what time you returned to the lab. -Darked-hearted. Her/his weird brain often converted friendly comments/suggestions to bad ones. Eventually, those working with her/him tended to remain silent in front of her/him, as speaking with her/him finally became a torture to everyone. -Super un-professional, often hidden in her/his office to play games. Bad-mouthed, even interfered group members' personal life. i.e. she/he disliked the way a group member spent his own money, then she/he would tried to find faults with this group member. What the hell? What on earth did someone else' money have anything to do with her/him? -A liar, true liar! Enjoyed faking all kinds of stories to attack anyone she/he disliked. Everyone in the group, of course except for herself/himself, even people outside the group, had been framed by her/him multiple times. ............ A truly ugly ugly person. You might wonder if I talked to HR about the manager's misconducts. Unfortunately, HR was useless....... However, if you have decided to join Headway, I do wish you best luck that your manager won't the same one as mine at Headway.

Pros

Overall, the company is good even though it is a sunset industry. The company offers good compensation, bonus and ok 410k. I have met really friendly and talented colleagues.

Cons

But the sr director of the group is horrible. -micromanagement, monitor employees' lunch time, how many times restroom they use during the day, how many breaks they take and how long each break is, even whether they eat company's Friday complimentary donuts or not. -the groupies have to send a daily update email before they leave mentioning what they have done through the day, so she/he can monitor what time they left work. You will be reviewed with bad performance if you leave work earlier than 7pm. In the meantime, she/he leaves around 5pm or even earlier despite the 3 hours lunch break she/he usually takes. -bad mouthing, she/he constantly bad mouth about the groupies and their family members, employees in other groups, sometimes even with the F & B words. -playing games on iPad Pro and iPhones during work time; texting during meetings and presentations. - talking about politics at work place. Sometime you are forced to be involved in the conversation. - joking about the employees in the group having affairs. -she/he constantly claims that she/he is open for discussion. But most of time, she/he takes it personally and thinks you are demeaning her/him if you are holding a different opinions. Almost all employees in this group are international, who worries about their visa status all the time that they might lose the job. So most employees leave after 1~2 years.

A culture of micromanagement

Pros

Job is easy, repetivity and mundane. Good company to work towards getting a green card, since everyone is in it for that purpose

Cons

Micromanagement is the culture from top to down. The engineers get all the pressure that the upper manager pass to the directors or middlemanagement staff. If you enjoy working like a slave with little appreciation and little creativity
