Pros

Health Catalyst is true to their mission, cultural attributes, and operating principles. The leadership is transparent and also seek feedback. Probably my favorite thing about Health Catalyst is the opportunity to work with amazing people. They truly are smart, hard-working, and humble people that teach me so much each and every day. In addition, I have NEVER seen a company that treats its employees so well. Unlimited PTO, generous maternity/paternity leave policies, stocked break rooms with food, paid internet, paid cell phone, fun company events for the whole family, incentives to be active and healthy, full transparency during monthly all team meetings with the CEO, and yearly raises are just some of the many benefits offered to help team members have a meaningful work experience. What's more, it's wonderful to be a part of a company that is sincerely making an effort to improve the world. And we're successfully improving outcomes in Healthcare. It's energizing to see and hear about what we're doing.

Cons

It's hard to think of negative comments when I've never seen a company like this one. It's certainly not a PERFECT company, but it's difficult to find cons when they seem so meaningless compared to the positive qualities of Health Catalyst. Here's a couple thoughts: Since it's a growing company, there are some (expected and natural) growing pains. One is that there is a lot of work to be done and sometimes it is difficult for me to find a work/life balance. That being said, I'm grateful for a leadership team that fully understands the importance of that balance and encourages us through word and policies to acquire it. I would also enjoy an office that had access to more sunlight.

Yep, despite how great it is to work here (and it is great to work here), Health Catalyst can be a tough place to work. Lots of growth brings lots of change, some uncertainty, and a demand that team members think for themselves, be resilient to changes/course corrections, and understanding of the mistakes that are inevitably made whenever a collection of smart human beings get together and try to collectively solve/build something. But inside the challenge and the difficulty, there is true value to be had in associating with this group. I agree with your last statement, we try to be the best that we can be on every level, and we fall short constantly, but we collectively don't give up. Its a great place to work!!!

Yup, maintaining tight relationships across corporate sites becomes harder the bigger we get, but the effort is worth it, and we will continue to try and make it better!

Pros

Amazing work life balance, good feedback from managers, great benefits. I feel valued as an employee and am doing a valuable job. Room for growth in startup

Cons

Many small isolated teams and low cohesion between them. The company is still a startup and is going through many growing pains. Many talented and driven people work at Health Catalyst but projects are slow due to lack of experience in new areas

Thanks for the review! Agree that we are going through these challenges as a company. In fact, I was in one of our small-group lunches just this week with several team members, and your point about isolation and low cohesion was raised and discussed. Here are just a few thoughts that came from that discussion regarding things we are working on to combat/mitigate this. One is a notion that we "cross-invite" certain members of one team to join the regular team meetings of another related, but separate team, for a period of time, allowing greater interaction. This is an idea we are early in exploring (as of yesterday! :) The second discussion was around the Open Space initiative that is going on here at Health Catalyst right now. If you have not had a chance to attend, or have not yet been invited, talk to someone on the platform team, where this initiative started, and they can get you into it. Anyone at Health Catalyst is invited, all are encouraged to attend. As a Senior Software Engineer, you may already be all over this, but thought this was a good forum to plug Open Space, as I think it is awesome! In fact, I am five minutes late for opening circle! Heading there now! Thanks again for the review!
