Health First Viera Hospital

Pros

This is the largest hospital system in Brevard County and it has a large network of providers and provider offices. If you are a new RN within the area, this is a good place to start and gain experience. There are a lot of opportunities to learn and grow and the health insurance, 401k, and other benefits are excellent.

Cons

If you are an RN, staffing shortages can make work difficult. In the emergency department they often hold patients and you are not always given a hold nurse. If you work on the floor, they can pull you to hold in the ED which increases the nurse to patient ratio. Sitters for Baker acts are far and few between. However, keep in mind this is an issue nationwide, always stand your ground if you feel an assignment is unsafe. Things vary depending on hospital (HF Viera, Holmes, Palm Bay, or Cape Canaveral) and department worked.
