Pros

- One of the best HSA Employer contribution with additional option to match. - They like to give money outside your salary. - If you are someone who has some career experience and want a job where you state the obvious and spend lots more time talking than doing, this would be a good place for you. - You do see some changes due to feedback. They act like they care. - If you live in Utah, you are considered more valuable.

Cons

- Healthcare premiums are crazy high. They say it’s due to being self funded, but the overall costs are the same as other companies, they just don’t cover as much. Instead they offer you a match on your HSA so if you contribute to the HSA, the extra cost is then given back to you in a different financial bucket. They make money off every HSA account so it would seem they do it for that reason. - Inefficient company. They want to spend hours discussing things that could be taken care of in an email or a 5 minute conversation. Things take weeks to get accomplished that could take minutes. One example is limiting people from fully doing their jobs so they have to go to other teams and wait for something that could have been done faster than putting in a request. The company has people who just put tickets in as their job. Another example is in Operations, the Leader sends the same email to different people months apart and so multiple people are working on the same thing with no communication that they are. - Corporate is very Micromanaging – watching everything you do and treat you like children. Sometimes they even remind you to be respectful of others, but always say they have awesome respectful people. - The more they claim diversity, the more they lock things down. - Career levels are not comparable to most companies. The salaries reflect that. Promotions are based on who can make themselves look the best. VPs and Directors are doing the job individual contributors of their acquired companies were hired to do leaving the them to do entry level work. - So many people are passing information up the chain for others to get the credit. You have to lay low and not show how smart you are or you end up on a layoff list. - They have this Purple culture that sounds awesome on paper and how you should do business, however it isn’t displayed day to day. If you don’t live in Utah, you get treated differently, excluded from information to do your job and if you ask questions they look down on you as if you have invaded their space.

Stay far away from Marketing

Pros

[Most of] the people. I made lifelong friendships here and felt like we were really making a difference in the lives of Americans. The culture is great, and the team tries really hard to make it a fun place to work. I truly believe in Steve Neeleman and Jon Kessler and feel that their passion and drive is going to lead this company to do even more amazing things.

Cons

Leadership, specifically that of the Marketing department. If feeling valued and like you matter are important to you, the Marketing team is not for you. If you have not previously worked with those currently in Marketing leadership, or further, if you are a woman, you will fail on this team, the “good old boys club” will make sure of it. The number of extremely talented people that have left the Marketing team within the last year because they couldn’t deal with the toxic environment anymore is astonishing, and even though HR has been involved many times, nothing changes. They also do not offer competitive wages unless you work in tech, and think that wellness reimbursement benefits will make up for it.

Pros

I was not allowed to remain employed long enough to discover any Pros.

Cons

I and my Department were "purple" to the bone long before Day 1. In reward for our open minds and eagerness to serve, we were unceremoniously dismissed in a fashion reminiscent of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. What occurred in the Tempe office on November 5th, 2019 was one of the most unprofessional mass layoffs I have ever been privy to in a 20+-year career. The organization preaches transparency and professionalism. The machinations which resulted in the maiming of hundreds of people's careers were more than surreptitious. I find it difficult to, in good faith, classify as professional senior executives who veritably litter their monologues and diatribes with profanity and snarky jokes/accusations. The Draper folks who were, subsequently, promoted to the VP and Director levels replaced senior, seasoned executives with with advanced degrees and scores of years of experience who were closing multi-million-dollar deals when the children in question were in kindergarten. These folks' outlandish and ignorant decision-making processes were more than evident from Day 1, and their hubris-driven sense of superiority mixed with their complete lack of two-way communication have served only to denigrate and disenfranchise the poor WageWorks folks who remain employed.
