Pros

I feel like I have become part of a family. People are great! Very down to earth. Lot's of responsibility.

Cons

HOURS. Expect to work your life away. Expect pressure to put in 12+ hour days 5-6 times a week. Expect jobs in the middle of nowhere. Don't expect a raise of any value until around 4 years of employment. The company is set up as a 4 year "weed-out" of anyone who can't hold their own. Thus low starting salary vs competitors until you reach a Project Engineer level.

Don't Expect to Be an Award Winning Parent

Pros

HP is good at what they do. They have a ton of training opportunities. They treat employees like family and are very forgiving of mistakes, especially early in your career. They also do not make cutd often to preserve profit. They try to hold on to salaried employees as best as possible in tough times.

Cons

The pay is not enough for the 60hr+ weeks. The compensation really sucks until you hit five years. The work life balance does not exist. They pretend having a family is possible, but it only is if you have a stay at home wife. Women, forget about it. There are very few successful women in HP outside of estimating and they definitely don't have kids. If you care more about money than being a presence in your child's life than this is the company for you.

Pros

very organized and family environment, the pay was great and plenty of free time. Able to branch out and learn on your own.

Cons

worked very long hours, working in the hot son. Sometime waking up very early in the 4am just to prepare for the day.
