Pros

Decent cafeteria, gym, compensation and newer office. Warm, tropical climate every day if you like that. 90+ degrees with stifling humidity for 5 months straight in SWFL.

Cons

I won’t speak for other departments but I can speak for IT. It’s a mess. Rookie CIO. She pushed out almost the entire previous management team in favor of a new inexperienced staff. Hundreds of millions spent on a “Digital Transformation,” aka Project One, over the past five years with little delivered. Somehow they’ve managed to continue to fool the board. IBM pretty much determines strategy. Kathy and Ginny are good buddies. Think hard about joining this IT department.

Pros

Covered parking. There is a gym on site but you are reprimanded if you take time away from your desk. Daycare and cafeteria are overpriced.

Cons

All I can say is run while you can! A couple of notes to the environment at Hertz: - You are micromanaged and expected to work 10 plus hours a day and always be on-call. They give you a cell phone and laptop for a reason. Nights, weekends, PTO... no one is covering for you and you are asked to work. If you are sick- they still expect you to work. I was on PTO and going into surgery and was written up for not answering a phone call. Sorry- I was unconscious. - Very stressful environment! You are given strict metrics and if you get close to meeting them, the bar is raised. They want you to fail! I saw one of my colleagues taken to the hospital for a panic attack and another colleague had a heart attack. A couple months later- they were "laid off." - Very poor management! They hire based upon the "good ole' boys/girls club" not by qualifications. The manager's are toxic. On my first day of employment, I was asked "Do you have kids?"- When I responded "no" my manager said "Good because I'm sick of that excuse." - Job security is a joke! They have hiring freezes and "lay-offs" non-stop. Managers like to use this as a scare tactic. During a team meeting our manager shared "I need to let 2 of you go, I just haven't decided who yet." There's a way to boost morale! Layoffs happen right before the Holidays or before annual bonus' are due. Great timing from a company financial perspective....

Pros

Big Company, Great experience to put on your resume

Cons

Big Company so at the end of the day you are just a number and even if you work for the company for a significant portion of your life with full loyalty they dont care and will never value you for what you are. HR is corrupt and unfair practices like favoritism and discrimination run rampant amongst upper management. All employees are taken advantage of all the time and they are given nothing wrong. I have seen masses get mistreated, fired for no reason, promoted when they didnt deserve it and a bunch of regulation breaches. They will also make you work anywhere from 50-70 hours a week and most years I did not even get the vacation days that were promised to me when I joined. Awful experience - like being in a horrible, abusive and unappreciative relationship. I am so glad for my mental health that I don't work there anymore
