Pros

Used to be a fun environment to work in. may come back at some point The path we are taking is a very hard and difficult one to take. but If it works we may just survive

Cons

lots of uncertainty. large layoff that just devastated the company headcount and morale in the company. Makes everyone uneasy about working here but a job is a job and i have been in worse situations

Sinking Ship - Run!

Pros

The pay is pretty good and my coworkers are wonderful. My manager is really great. The office environment is relaxed and no one really cares what you wear. I would have been very happy working at hibu for an extended period of time, until they started making sudden, massive cuts...

Cons

You will get laid off. Period. The company is outsourcing everything either to India, the Philippines, or subcontractors. There's a constant atmosphere of fear and even your manager is often left in the dark.

Pros

The salary, paid holidays, some pleasant people

Cons

The beginning of the end was probably when the British bought Yellowbook. The company's fate is tied to the dying phone book, no matter how hard it tries otherwise. When the phone book goes, so will hibu. Sales reps don't understand the websites they are selling, and they gave the copywriters little useful information with which to write the sites. Copywriters then had to resort to the same generic clichés on each page, writing cookie-cutter sites. trying to meet a production quota. No job security - they overhired, then laid most people off when they still lost money. To save money, the company outsourced, both to online freelancers and overseas, with a resulting drop in quality. The Web content is now being written in India.
