Pros

When most days you are able to pinch yourself and ask the question, do I get paid to do this? That's when you know you are surrounded by a great work environment. The projects can be overwhelming, but when you break it down day by day it starts to become easier to achieve success. I throughly enjoy working with students on a daily basis and ultimately become a solution finder on a daily basis (not a problem solver!).

Cons

In IT there seems to be a lot of turnover, which can be a negative but can also be a positive as we will be adding fresh eyes and new ideas to our team. Sometimes it's challenging working at the helpdesk, but again I turn it into customer service for our students here at HPU.

Pros

Work is important, dynamic and fulfilling at HPU. Pace is quick and changes daily, so there is never a dull moment. But staff are also supported, guided and yet given autonomy and room for creativity. Those who want new opportunities will find them here.

Cons

You need to be flexible. That is not bad - just means it isn't for everyone if you cannot change and adapt quickly.

Feels like you are contributing to important work. The entire community cares about student success and enhancing the experience for students as they learn. extra perks like $ on company ID card for meals, etc (like a debit card). Bonus when institution does well. Monthly staff meetings keep everyone informed on the direction of the school and allows staff to recognize each other. I like that culture of teamwork. I know there are similar meetings with faculty and the auxilliary workers.

Cons

parking is challenging - they have growth of students and faculty/staff.
