Good money, bad management

Pros

- Hostess' are tipped out so along with your weekly paycheck, you get your tips in cash once a week as well. - Great food

Cons

- Management claims they are "supportive" of college students, but would often expect you to be available when you have told them far in advance those are the days you have class or an exam - Don't have regard for their employees - Management seems to have no experience actually managing people - Worst management I have ever seen - Slowly began dreading going into work because management was always going to be nagging about something - If you have a question about something, management would usually talk down to you and demonstrate or explain how to do it in a mocking, childish manner as if you weren't competent enough to be told something like a mature adult - Saw many, many people fired and let go for ridiculous reasons. Some of their best employees that were with the company for years would be fired randomly from a small mistake. Basically their actions show they believe if you mess up, they will fire you at the beginning of your next shift rather than maybe talking about an issue and letting it be a warning and speak about termination if the issue repeated. - I would give them two stars because the money is good, but management is just that awful the money isn't even worth it. You could find another restaurant in Winter Park with comparable pay that actually has a respectable and efficient management team

Prejudice Company

Business Outlook

Pros

You can expect good consistent money each week.

Cons

Management is young and prejudice. They hire minorities to cover up the fact that they are prejudice toward their employees as well as guest. Guest are not always aware, but they do issue higher wait times to minorities. Some servers tell the Greeters to watch minorities in fear that they will not pay their bill. They sit minorities in the window where they get the extreme temperatures such as cold or heat. They sit them in the bar area with minimal effort at seating them in the actual dinning room. They also hire minorities to clean up, food prep, and wash dishes. They then have one black Greeter, two black servers who are women, one black bar back, and one black manager. This is of course to cover up the fact they are prejudice.

Pros

Hillstone does a really great job at hiring the right people. The environment is really fun and the front of house and back of house get along great. It can be slow in the summer, but it is worth sticking it out for the cooler months of the year.

Cons

The training program is really hard, but well worth it in the end. They can be a bit rigid on the rules, but I understand that they are important for success of the company. It can be hard work. We have no food runners or bussers, so be ready to be tired at the end of the shift. This is not a place for lazy people.
