Horrible Experience

Pros

None, horrible experience. Facebook has no idea what they are doing and Hines lacks guidance and leadership

Cons

Providing contingent workers to Facebook who just abuse the team. If they don't like you it's bye-bye. Hines management is the worst, no leadership, no direction. Working at Hines@Fcebook is a joke; your not managing teams your babysitting privileged Facebook employees who have no idea what they are doing. If the mantra is "move fast and break things" they have a done a good job as nothing works

Pros

Incredibly knowledgeable MDs and C-level executives that have been through several market downturns. The lifestyle is much better than investment banking and other finance jobs, whether you work for the REIT, a project team, or are an administrative assistant. Hours are good, pay is industry standard. If your project or fund does well, bonuses can be good. Good health benefits and 401k matching.

Cons

It can be difficult to find a mentor, which is very important for young analysts and associates

Great place to work?!

Pros

Global enterprise allows exposure to opportunities normally associated with much larger companies. Initial salaries are very competitive. Still family-owned, it makes for a good story -- until the economy went south. Many long-tenure employees and lots of company pride.

Cons

Frequently rated as one of the "best places to work", a peek inside the company reveals why employees feel that way: Most of those long-tenure employees are such due to a total lack of ambition and initiative. Employee turnover is typically due to those who endeavor to move forward in their career realize that it will never happen at Hines. You're expected to do the job you were hired for, do it exceedingly well and do it forever. Salaries are above-average but the internal politics and games are the worst I have ever experienced. Career paths are non-existent. Hines has a real paranoia about appearing in print, so don't expect anyone outside of the company to hear about anything interesting you've done.
