Don’t do it

Pros

Vacation time. Trust me, you’ll need it.

Cons

This place will rob you of your dignity, insult your intelligence and treat you like garbage. The insulting salary and absurdly high non-union staff health insurance rate is just the start. Unless you’re an undeserving DEI hire, you will get nothing I return for your hard work. Expect other employees work to be dumped on you when you leave. Expect to be ignored. Expect to be treated like a slave. There is blatant active discrimination against those who are not of some minority status. There are Vice Presidents making 5-700k plus driving around in free Audis while you struggle to survive. The list goes on.

Pros

Co-workers and Hofstra community great to work with. Benefits and retirement plan very solid. Easy commute for those living nearby.

Cons

Good luck taking advantage of tuition remission! Due to the ungodly work hours they impose upon administrators getting your advanced degree is a fantasy. Not in the Union? That means you will work relentless hours of UNPAID overtime because they’ll claim you’re EXEMPT but still make you come in promptly at 9am after you worked until 11pm the night before. The best part? “Eliminating” the jobs of anyone over 50 and blaming COVID as the excuse. Horrendous upper management out of touch with what everyone does for a living until they are gone from being fed-up. Excuse after excuse as to why “we can only give you half a percent or 1 percent raise (not keeping up with cost of living increases) while higher ups get bloated salaries and drive leased high end vehicles.

Pros

Opportunity to advance your education with free tuition at the institution.

Cons

No sense of teamwork. Every sub-division seems to look out for itself, and not much of a collaborative effort to help each other out. Everyone seems ready to place blame and throw each other under the bus.
