Pros

Great job if you are a loner with no life, no kids, no wife, minimal bills, no ambition but, to exist for Home City Ice.

Cons

Terrible place to work, They will run employees into the ground as they do their equipment, Then write you off when your usefulness is gone. They pay ok but with , the hours you put in your making peanuts. No room to move up and no benefits to move up drivers make more than the managers and mangers never truly have a day off and life outside of this company is almost non-existent and absolutely no help from upper management zone nor regional to do anything except placing blame on one while you’re one person trying to do the job of six. People with no help. Company insurance very seldom wants to pay any bills then your stuck with paying them out of pocket. They expect mangers to sell the job to people like it’s a Fortune 500 company when the building you operate in doesn’t even have a restrooms, heat, nor AC nor a phone. Most trucks don’t have AC and are tired and that’s what you’ll be if you work here!

Pros

It’s a really good job to have while you are young. You can really earn a lot while working here. Yes, there are some people that might not make great money. The keys to making money is working efficiently and getting the bonuses. Get your CDL from the start (they will help you get it and pay for it). Without it, your daily bonus is capped at like $6 or something. With a CDL, you will be eligible for daily bonuses greater than $20. That’s like making an extra $5k a year. Secondly, deliver enough to get your weekly bonus. I forget the details, but you and your manager will agree on a goal. The higher your goal the more your bonus, but if you don’t hit the goal, it’s $0. Additionally, their are referral bonuses. Recruit your friends. Make sure they are good workers, because you will get a cut of their commissions. Talk about passive income! Ask your manager or zone manager for details. There are also bonuses for becoming a trainer, but it’s not necessary a bonus as more comp. for you lower productivity while training someone. Easy to get a day off when you need it, as long as you give your manager a heads up.

Cons

You get tired of hearing comments about having a “cool job”. You are required to work most holidays and the days right before, though this is when you should want to work, because it’s easy money. Plus there will be free food. Not enough CDL trucks when you first get your CDL (no pallet jack = moving ice twice). Cut of every paycheck comes out for uniforms. A truck issue can really kill your commission for the pay period.
