Great Summer Job

Pros

-Great pay for seasonal work. For me avg. $12-14/hr. $900-1200 avg. bi-weekly pay. More thru June-Mid August. I would make more in 3 1/2 months than other college friends would make in a year. -I could work over the summer and make enough to pay rent and expenses over the school year -No boss looking over your shoulder all day. Once you leave the plant, you are on your own. -Flexible days when management is given enough notice. Usually if I needed a specific day off I could get that day off, I might just need to work an extra day before or after to help make up for someone covering that day. -More work=more money -The longer the drive=better commision. -When I demonstrated I was a hard and reliable worker, I started getting better routes which turned into better paychecks -Unit bonus of $8 for selling 2000 units which doesn't sound like much but it does start adding up.

Cons

-Days can be long 10-12 hours, but if I was working that long I was making good money. Even longer days over the holidays 12-14 hours, but during that time it was $200+ per day. So it is kind of a trade off working longer days for better money. I would start early to combat the longer days. -Is somewhat physically demanding at first. Once I got the hang of moving the ice around it became routine. (they started these new carts at my location last summer with 4 wheels that I didn't have to tip back or balance which helps) -Going from outside where its hot to inside cold takes some getting adjusted to. -Some customers are very demanding/picky -Some routes would require long drives (30-40 miles to get to an area)
