*You are not informed @hiring that store "recovery" (read=CLEAN UP & TIDYING) can add 1- 2 1/2 HOURS to your put-the-door time at closing. I think their turnover rate would fall dramatically if they were upfront and honest about that. When one plans one's day on a 5p - 10p (closing) schedule, and one can't actually depart until 11:30/12p, it causes problems. If this happens on a regular basis, one tends to say, "Farewell."
*The pay is minimal.
*Checkout staff is expected to offer the store credit card, and ask for charity donations of EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER. Some customers do not mind, many do, and the poor cashier is the one to get blasted.
*The employee discount is a paltry 10%--20% on very limited occasions.
Associates are asked to be diligent in spotting shoplifters, yet the company cripples it's security staff in their efforts to stop/pursue thieves.
*Rest and lunch breaks are laughable. An unpaid 45 minute break for a 9 - 11 hour shift is ridiculous. (Store recovery time at closing is not considered scheduled time, so is not included in determining the length of one's break.)
