Unbelievable and shocking. Never had a retail job like it-not in a good way!

Horrified by the amount of over night shifts (some people doing 3+ per week) most of the time I just moved shelves from on side of the unit to the other. The treatment of staff is not on, pregnant ladies being berated by manager as well as other staff-it seems if the manager does not like you then you are practically bullied until you leave. Messages not passed on so you arrange two days around 1 night shift and then get there and get told it's cancelled. 'Maintaining' for a whole shift is mind numbing and made worse by the fact that you're not allowed to talk to your colleagues and if they realise you are you get moved to the other end of the shop. Only allowed to drink tea and coffee during your lunch break and even having a bottle of water with you is a nightmare because there is no regard for personal property. Constantly having bag checks and asked to empty your pockets so you feel like a thief, I was even told I wasn't allowed to have a cough sweet when I had an awful cold. Most shocking retail job I have ever had and made me realise how lucky I was in other jobs, which I am returning to within the next week.
