Pros

You really work with some extremely smart people at a company which practically invented the industry.

Cons

Very outdated facilities, corporate culture, and management. Lots of middle management which is unnecessary and working there kind of feels like its the 90s. Many departments are full of dead end careers. Management pays absolutely no attention to the needs of their employees. In certain departments employee satisfaction with management is extremely low however nothing will ever change.

Pros

You won't have a lot of left over salary to make frivilous purchases like an new car, nicer home, cool vacations, etc. You can pretty much work the hours you want. Your manager is too busy trying to score his/her next move to watch you. This is because most people who advance at Honeywell never stay longer than 3 years in one place. Keep moving so you never have to live with the decisions you made. Anyone who stays in their current role longer than 5 years is a loser.

Cons

Worst health care premiums and employee benefits in the Fortune 500. How about $7400/year for medical insurance on a family of four? And that's with a $3000 deductible. You're into your own pocket for $10,000 before the company spends one penny on you or your families health needs.. My business has lost over 30% of the salaried employees in the last 3 years. These were 20+ year employees. Every one of them went to a company with better benefits and pay. In most cases it takes 2-3 quarters to get approval to hire their replacements. Dave Cote has said "we will not be replacing employees in USA and Western Europe". So this is a dead end opportunityfor most North American and European careers. If you are looking for a job and you are a USA/European technical person - look somewhere else. Honeywell Sr. Management believes in the engineering prowess of such technical "hotspots" as Tianjin,CH, Bangalore, IN and Tijuana, MX ! That's where they are investing for the future. Not the USA.

Pros

Pay may be slightly above average. Some opportunities for movement within company.

Cons

This company has the most unrealistic expectations that I have ever witnessed in my career. It became worse everyday. They cut about 15% of staff in 2009 and continued to not replace other retiring workers. They outsourced labor to Puerto Rico, India, and Mexicali but the outsourcing was handled so poorly that workers at the site had to perform the tasks themselves, which added more burden. The workload became unbearable for those left to pick up the pieces. There is also a culture of verbal abusiveness, yelling etc. The louder you can yell at your staff, the more likely you are to be promoted.
