Pros
Good pay. Large organization. Diverse workforce. Good technology. Some very good schools, academically. Good sports programs. Award-winning debate, band, dance, and more. Great health insurance.
Cons
Unprofessional, unfair administration. A lot of politics, favoritism, nepotism. Most schools serve at-risk students, but administration won't address real student academic concerns, like basic reading skills, study skills, and writing skills. It seems that what the district shows the public, like the awards, the bonds, the grants, the accolades, they don't show what's really going on at the classroom level. At my high school 70% of the student body (1700) cannot read above the fifth-grade level. This is not seriously remediated. But, then they want high STAAR exam scores.
