Pros
Benefits such as vacation time and health insurance are great.
Cons
This was probably the worst place I've worked at in terms of leadership, including having worked retail. I do believe the lack of leadership is coming from the top down but is worsened by the institution only promoting those that will conform. What HCC says it does and it's actions are completely at odds. Although there are POC at the institution many of them remain in lower positions in spite of having more experience and higher degrees than many in upper management. It is a white female dominated institution and it shows in every way. Incidents of cultural insensitive to colleagues and students make it a toxic place for these individuals. HCC is not open to new ideas which is to the detriment of many of it's employees. No matter how much you are over worked, you will constantly have duties that are outside of your area or responsibility assigned to you without any compensation. President's team is where all the ideas for the institution come from without referring to the people who are actually working in the departments. You end up being forced to comply with ideas that are completely out of touch. Constructive criticism and honest opinions are not welcome which creates a twilight zone like atmosphere where people just pretend everything is okay when it's really not. Seeing what I've seen on the employee side and hearing what I've heard from the student side, make me question how HCC is accredited.
