      Pros

      Brilliant first job to get your foot in the door into the corporate world, employee benefits are very generous (especially around maternity and PT hours) - its very easy to get CII qualified as they will pay for your exams either through an apprenticeship or self study. Moving between branches and within Howden itself is fairly easy as they will almost always prefer internal rather than external. The work itself is very easy,

      Unless you work for one of the larger branches then progress up the ladder can be difficult - remote working for personal lines is almost none existent. Low wage cap for certain parts meaning you are almost forced around within the company if you actually want to progress your career.

      nice building in london, good area to be in

      Cons

      so much leadership reshuffle and movement that it's hard to really understand what is going on and what direction the company is going in. a lot of talk about people but ultimately very little thought and support offered. the CEO cult of personality was also pretty strong with many senior people giving the "we are a family" speech
