Pros

Most clients are nice to deal with and grateful for your hard work. Perkbox rewards offered so you can save some money using vouchers.

Cons

The job is extremely fast paced and as a newbie you’re thrown in at the deep end with little time to adjust and pretty poor training/minimal supervision. Unrealistic targets are heavily enforced and you’re made to feel terrible if you don’t hit these even after just just a week or two of actively being in the role. My first impression of starting in branch was that all of my colleagues were miserable, unapproachable, and stressed and you’re made to feel like a nuisance for asking any questions which leads to mess ups further down the line. The job is very mentally draining and you’re expected to go above and beyond for every client with little to no recognition or reward. You’re also made to work every other Saturday (a 6-day working week!) which isn’t paid as overtime or offered as time in lieu. Additionally there is zero flexibility to allow for working from home and the dress code is pretty strict.

Thank you for taking the time leave your feedback. I would be grateful if you could contact me to share your experience, you can reach me by email - paul.sissons@aplan.co.uk To provide a little context around some of your key points raised, please see the below response. When starting a new role, there is always a lot to learn, which is why we have a 12 week induction training programme to support all new starters in the business. We also ensure regular ‘check in’ meetings are booked in, to make sure we can support with any additional challenges you may face as we appreciate that moving into a role that is fast paced and has targets, sometimes requires extra support. Remote working as a new starter is a little tricky, as it is important, that they are in the office and around colleagues who can support and who they can learn from - working from home, without this, when you are trying to learn everything about the products we offer and ensuring you are fully compliant would be nearly impossible. A-Plan are a client facing, advisory business, so it is important we represent the brand in a professional way, which is why we provide guidance around the dress code. As we are a people first business, we also ensure that we are accessible to clients when they require our support, so we do open Saturday mornings 8.30am-12midday, however we have amended our working hours to 39.5per week to account for this.

You’re made to feel less like a person and more like a robot with more and more “scripts” added to what you have to say to the clients.
