Pros
- Global organization - Always changing
Cons
I began working with company 5+ years ago and have lived through many changes (including 2 separations). There was no company maternity/paternal paid leave. The bare minimal was available (FMLA). Finally a new company paid maternity/paternal leave was announced/communicated approximately 1.5- 2 years ago. A colleague recently inquired regarding this policy and as he/she is expecting and discovered that policy was no longer in place. It was simply take away - with no announcement /communication to employees! Working from home was also announced as not allowable in the recent year. Lastly, the corporate offices did not have a documented sick leave policy (set amount of days) however, during on-boarding you were informed that the practice was to take sick time as needed (medical note would be required for 5+ consecutive days used). This was the practice for decades. This did not appear to be abused as employees often opted to work from while sick (when remote working was still allowed). With the Covid19 pandemic and the call from local government for expansive paid sick leave for employees, the company took the opportunity to formally document a sick leave policy. The policy is more restrictive. Corporate employees have gone from a use as needed basis, to maximum of 48 hours (6 days) annually.
