Pros

Fantastic engineering talent and culture. I can't say enough how skilled, friendly, and dedicated everyone is at HubSpot. It's awesome how much trust is put in employees to solve for and do right by the customer. So many opportunities to learn, collaborate, and grow.

Cons

Getting up to speed when first joining can be somewhat intense, but once you get into the groove, it's great!

I love that you called out how our engineering team is empowered to solve for the customer--that's one of my favorite parts of our culture code, and I'm glad to hear it came through in your early experience with the company. Thanks for a thoughtful review, I promise to keep working to make the company feel small even as we grow! -Katie

Pros

Everyone is smart. People don't micromanage you. You work on your own, but you also work in a team.

Cons

Everyone is very smart, so you have to work harder to stand out her than you would otherwise.

Thanks so much for the feedback, and the advice--I think in our attempt to reflect how hard it is to get into HubSpot, we've flipped the rhetoric a bit too far so it can feel exclusive or judgmental of schools, which is never the intention--I have a few plays in the works to help mitigate this, and welcome any suggestions you have on how we can further improve on this if you want to chat in person. -Katie

Pros

I have worked at HubSpot for over 4 years, and have essentially received an MBA in growing a SaaS company. Even though my responsibility is sales/management I have insight into how the marketing operations function, how pricing/packaging is determined etc...The internal wiki + transparent company culture allows young people getting started in the workforce to not only make good money and learn how to sell, but to really get the vision of the company and understand the inputs needed to get us there. It has made me think more about solving for our customers first, than the company before myself, and this is the attitude that most employees have here. I believe this is the reason for the high market cap and success of the company.

Cons

Early on my work life balance was less than ideal. You really have a lot to learn and it can be tough if you don't have a super organized brain. Our leadership team takes great strides to ensure people actually take vacations and unwind, but if you come out of the gate struggling you may feel more pressure to catch up.

Thanks for the thoughtful review--the "clearing the fog" wiki posts are some of my favorites too, and I love that our entire leadership team is engaged in conversations on the wiki to keep ideas and information flowing. We are working on some ideas to make work-life fit easier to navigate at the outset of your career at HubSpot; if you have any suggestions, send them my way. Most importantly, thanks for more than four years of service at HubSpot, we're lucky to have you on board. -Katie Burke
