Pros

Compared to other jobs in the field, I got pretty good pay. I was able to negotiate for the entire budget at the time. The Unlimited sick and PTO days are great. You have to meet your monthly and quarterly units of work. It can be overwhelming but straightforward once you get in a flow. I had a great experience with close management. I know that is not always the case, I have met folks who have not had a great experience with their management. There are always opportunities to move around within the company. direct management has been very open about the process and moves into other careers within the company. It's been a bit harder but they are big on internal hiring which is great compared to other companies. PPO Insurance is great, but I also had no insurance before so you can be the judge. We get all the equipment needed. Stock grants, the opportunity for a 2%-7% raise with promotion. Depending on your city you can get other perks. There are many communities that you can connect with, there are hosted events if there are enough people in your city.

Cons

And the cons... it really was great until it wasn't. They started to micro-manage units and our daily schedule. To "put the customer first". It wasn't annoying at first, but you move on. Slowly things started to change, pressure began to come along slowly. Last year we were assured that there will not be a layoff in the near future. By then the environment was still slowly changing. We started to lose more tenured representatives. 2023 happens and there is a layoff, it was terrible. Everyone got an email stating that were will be layoffs. and by a specific time, you will get an email stating if you have been let go to not. The amount of anxiety that induced. Worrying about yourself, co-workers, and their families. Who will you see again... Between the meeting stating why they laid people off. Hubspots first lay off I must add. It was terrible, those who were affected had until the end of their shift to wrap up everything they have know at Hubspot. We all agreed that things have changed after that day. It completely broke any trust or respect that was left. Most teams can say they have lost a team member or know someone who has resigned since. It feels like every other week someone is gone. The workload and micro-management have gotten so much more difficult. There are not enough representatives to cover shifts. We have a Personal Development which cannot be used because you are so focused on the rest of the work. In addition to this, there is not much, if any accommodation for "invisible" disabilities such as ADHD. You cannot get any flexibility with Hour adherence which they have really been pushing. You can't get any flexibility on that even if you hit your metrics and above. This job can work great for those on the spectrum with the level of stricter the job follows. But if you are on the other end, it's immensely stressful to manage. Other Medical accommodations are kind of in the same boat. They pretty much view it as either being a right fit for the job or not... It's just disappointing how Hubspot was previously, it feels like the core values have changed. We're just numbers now. If I didn't expect this, it would be easier. But it's because it was truly really good, now to see how it's turned out. We can't control the economy, we need to keep the company funded to provide jobs. But we do not need to manage it this way. I only recommend it if you are someone who can work and do mind a difficult work-life balance. Or if you absolutely need a job with benefits.

Pros

Decent salary for the postion compared to other job offers on the market, good health insurance

Cons

Since Hubspot understaffed support via the 7% workforce reduction earlier this year , and this short staffing has been further exacerbated by massive attrition since, Hubspot's culture has shifted dramatically. Leadership doesnt care about experience, seniority, or history of loyalty in employees. All that matters now is your production numbers this month. There is no context that can explain low numbers and no compassion for employees. I personally know a mentor-type person with years of experience who was cut loose in recent months after their numbers dropped due to stress caused by their move across the country, and the general burn-out culture we work in 40 hours a week. Everyone i know is leaving as quickly as possible. This ship is sinking while on fire

Sorry to hear about your experience in Support and your frustration with the culture-not sure there is much I can say/do that would change your opinion here, but appreciate the feedback and you making the time to share it. -Katie

Pros

Ability to work fully remote Compensation is pretty good Sabbatical after five years

Cons

In the past year or so the culture at HubSpot has taken a complete nosedive. There has been a total exodus of highly tenured, knowledgeable people across so many departments who had been with the company for many years and held so much knowledge. It seems most everyone you now meet has been here under 2 years, which should tell you something. Leadership keeps joining from major Fortune 500 companies and along with it they have brought the toxic cultures. They continue “benchmarking to the market” which basically means doing away with the benefits and culture that made HubSpot special and different from the typical corporation that treated you as just a number. Work-life balance was terrible to begin with and was made worse after the layoffs. Constant communications via emails and Slack at all hours of the day and everything is somehow an emergency that needed to be completed yesterday. People are already on the edge of burnout, yet somehow we’re now pushing this new “high performance culture” that HR and leadership have barely been able to articule and explain what exactly it means.

Thanks for the feedback and really sorry to hear that you feel a major shift in the culture within your team and the business, that's a huge bummer. We have to find the balance of welcoming new folks to the business to help make us better and maintaining what's gotten us to this point, so thanks for the feedback to help us stay grounded in it. -Katie
