Pros

Flexible, casual work atmosphere which still innovates and strives for improving quality. Exceptional employee retention and minimal turnover. Strongly encourages improved employee health through wellness programs and insurance discounts. Provides the tools (gym, health counselors, sports fields) necessary to make health improvement easy to achieve.

Cons

Inter-departmental communication has room for improvement - beyond that, I've not experienced any drawbacks in my time as an employee.

Pros

Great benefits, relaxed atmosphere that enables you to do your job without feeling pressured from management. Family oriented, with a lot of care directed towards the health and welfare of the employees.

Cons

A lot of people have been promoted based on personal reasons instead of business reasons. About 40% of the staff do not speak, write or understand English very well, and were hired based on reasons from some management personnel to personally assist that individual, rather than Hunter Industries. So because of that, you have 10, 15, or 20 year employees who have never been promoted beyond the next level, if that. Most of them can't take the necessary test to be promoted because of their lack of English skills. Hunter needs to get back to the basic regarding hiring practices concerning this issue or they will not be able to develop talent from within. Also, there is a lot of nepotism and favoritism regarding this fact, to the point that jobs for individuals who perform below average are protected; Especially in the assembly and molding areas. Some of the employees jobs require them to read instructions in English, but some can't even read or comprehend English, so they ask one of the friends or other workers to translate for them. This makes it hard to do your job because part of your review is based on the personal development of the employees, so your are graded on the personal hiring of employees who were never qualified for the job from the beginning because of this fact. So because of this issue, you have to do more hands on management and a lot more babysitting to make sure that basic instructions are understood. Very frustrating.
