Purchasing - not a good place to learn

Pros

Good benefits (vacation days, health insurance), nice site location, great team. In general, the work atmosphere was good and there was no backstabbing among the employees

Cons

Due to the fact that AP is outsourced and the process does not work, Purchasing cannot focus on its tasks and is approx. 50% of the time busy with fire fighting and administration (resolving delivery stops and fixing booking issues). So far, there is no willingness to improve. For newcomers there is no structured training given. Huntsman is constantly changing (selling businesses, acquiring business). The changes are made too fast, they are badly managed and communicated to the employees. The ERP system is not setup properly, therefore, a lot of important functionalities cannot be used. Political decisions and saving money is more important than keeping talents in the company. Consequently, the turnover rate of people became very high.

Good company trying to do the right thing

Pros

Good culture. They are really trying to do things right, both in the company and outside it. Good atmosphere and team environment, for the most part. They do want to develop within -although this does appear to be words more than action. Good salary, pension and holidays. You feel good working for Huntsman, proud to work there.

Cons

Execution of promoting and developing internal talent is not actioned as strongly as their words and internal documents suggest they would like to be. But this is an area for development. There's a of leaders who need to develop being an actual leader and inspiring action, however this appears to be a big focus on their external recruitment.

Nice place to work, but I'm glad I'm out

Pros

Very good work/life balance. Terrific benefits/salary. There are some good people within the ranks who genuinely care.

Cons

Very poor bottom-up communication. Good ideas get squashed, only to resurface a year later with someone else claiming credit. Extraordinarily dysfunctional IT. Data protection is far more important than data access. A PhD in absurdity is required to navigate the IT ticketing system. A decent & efficient user interface is ever a consideration.
