Hy-Vee reviews

Starting pay was very poor. I moved to grocery delivery and was asked to take on extra hours and pick up slack around the department all while getting paid just a tad above minimum wage. Grocery delivery often required demanding physical labor (for example, I once delivered fifty cases of water to a customer), but yet I was compensated the same as employees bagging groceries. They didn't care about paying me appropriately for the value I added and for the difficulty of the job I took on, but rather aimed to squeeze as much work out of me as possible while paying me as little as they could. I understand that this dynamic in certainly not uncommon, especially in companies like Hyvee, so I discount this factor in my overall rating. I felt very underappreciated working at Hyvee. Of course checkers/delivery drivers are seldom going to be treated like royalty, but at Hyvee I genuinely got the sense that the company couldn't care less about their lower level employees, especially young ones.

When you call for help, you get ignored a lot.
