This can vary by store manager, but general corporate policy was very strict. Other stores in my area were much more lenient, but my store had very much a "put on your monkey suit, come do your job, we're watching every thing you do, don't step outside the boundaries" vibe. Full disclosure I rode the line on this a bit, but you don't seem to receive a lot of flak as long as you make yourself a valuable asset to the team, and my department manager kind of hated the policies too. I chose to move on to a different position because the wage was low for someone with plenty of experience, and the schedule was constantly shifting. You wouldn't know what your availability for the next week until the Wednesday prior. Vacations were supposed to be planned a year in advance, so nearly impossible to plan anything, and weekends off were hard to come by. Career advancement was difficult without cross-region moves, and meant a meager increase in pay with severely increasing demands and an arguably worse time commitment.
