Pros

In my experience, working in a department, instead of just simply being a cashier or courtesy clerk, is the way to go. Being a Floral Designer was great--you were given lots of creative freedom, and if there was nothing to do, most of the time you could decide what you wanted to do. The store I worked at was quite laid back though, so I'm unsure if that's the way all Hy-Vee Floral shops run.

Cons

Once there was a huge crackdown on secret shopper reviews, working in the floral department became a lot more stressful. Also, of course, you get angry people who didn't get quite what they wanted (especially during Valentines Day), but the nice people make up for it.
