Pros

Managers were very understanding of my goals and helped me to achieve them. Flexible with students and the management seems to actually care about employee's. Pay is actually tied to work experience.

Cons

Not a lot of upward mobility in some departments. Need to transfer stores if you want to get a bigger promotion due to longevity of many employees.

Supervisor not forward about pay

Pros

Flexible for the most part.

Cons

I started working in my hometown as a kitchen clerk, where I was paid 9.50 an hour. A couple years later when I reapplied at another location, I asked to be paid my previous wage. The manager said he'd see what he could do, but never got back to me and I was paid 8.25 until I quit. Hy-vee promotes a "helpful smile in every aisle", but that is hardly the case. Most times, employees are unhappy because management doesn't keep them happy. Once your hired, you're kind of on your own.

Pros

Good employees, to work with. Always busy

Cons

Cutting hours while we are making record sales?!?! Store manager needs to rethink his strategy.
