Pros

Employee has a lot of freedom in defining his/her own career path and managers generally will provide support for their employee's career development. There are many opportunities inside the company and you may try different jobs/roles without actually leave your current position.

Cons

Too much politics. You sometimes have to spend a lot of time to deal with politics before you can actually get things done.
