Pros

IBM is operating oin the leading edge of business and technology. I can hardly imagine any other company that can provide the level of opportunity that IBM does. The development/educational opportunities are immense. Moreover, as a company, IBM takes diversity very seriously. Furthermore, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in international projects.

Cons

Due to its size, it can be a quite bureaucratic place. Moreover, because of the great "brand" and established process driven methodologies sometimes I feel the human factor is not appreciated as much as it should be. This is also reflected in the compensation7benefits package which is usually below market rate.

Pros

Great for software engineers and those with technical expertise. IBM offer a wide variety of platforms on which to work. Might be a great start for those looking to move on to other software companies.

Cons

You always here about some great new technology IBM is working on in the mainstream media. However, the chance to get involved in such technologies is very difficult. The organisation is overly bureaucratic with obvious conflict between different parts of the business, stifling the ability to produce some great work. Externally, IBM appear a very modern organisation in which to work. However, once inside, it's clear that IBM is very outdated in it's processes and over-zealous bureaucracy.

Pros

big company, diversified, generally decent benefits and hr policies.

Cons

if you are a US citizen, it's unlikely you will have your job for long. IBM is seemingly on the warpath to get rid of all American employees. In some divisions, at least 65% of the employees are "global resource" .. apparently americans are not part of the 'global' community .. and that is only expected to go up. Depending on your division, can be surprisingly cheap ... no money for education, travel etc., but other divisions can be quite generous, just luck of the draw where you end up.
