Pros

- The elder people you work with have a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience you can learn from - Work hours are flexible as long as you do what is expected of you

Cons

- Poughkeepsie, NY is one of the least attractive places to work. The town offers nothing for young people. The consensus among new hires is to work for 2-3 years and then go work somewhere else, away from Poughkeepsie. - Salary is sub-par, bonus' are poor, and raises are not definite. Sadly, there is no monetary incentive to stay; pay is much better elsewhere. - Working from home has been banned. You must come into the office now, or you'll get the boot. - Generally, cost-saving initiatives are at the expense of the employee reflected in their 401K's, benefits, compensation, and flexibility.

Pros

Market recognition as well as a solid reputation and strong product and offering portfolio.

Cons

Continued off-shoring of services talent and drain (ie layoffs) of experienced talent in favor of younger and cheaper people has taken a toll on our ability to deliver what we say we can.

Pros

Amazing people that I call friends. Flexibility to work from home (for the past three years, that ends in 2017 for most biz units). Great training programs. You can get in the door with the IBM name.

Cons

Morale is at an all time low. The constant, every 6 month change to account coverage and strategy makes success very difficult. The lay offs, also known as "skills re-balancing" or Resource Actions have taken a toll. Often very good people have been let go because they have been in the wrong organization at the wrong time.
