Experience Highly Dependent on Team
Pros
Phenomenal work environment with great co-workers and management that really appreciates workers and gets invested in their career growth. Consulting projects provide adequate challenge, and the office usually has lots of fun team building and free food going on. Work-life balance is also great and my team was very flexible with the hybrid schedule as long as the work was completed and satisfactory. Additionally, the focus on continuing education and the resources available are unparalleled.
Cons
Career progress can be dependent on what projects are available. Management has an enormous effect on morale and while I was fortunate to be on a phenomenal team it often seemed like many of my peers on other teams did not have the same experience. Pay appears to be below average as lots of staff leave for outside opportunities or get hired by their clients. I’ve seen some people attain competitive pay, but it seems to have a fair bit to do with being in the right place at the right time. Bonuses are very rare, and retirement benefits received a devastating cut while I was there. CIC employees did not receive the GDP bonus that was supposedly for all full-time employees of IBM.
