Pros
IBM provided intensive training, good appraisal and advancement counseling, broad opportunities for both lateral and vertical job rotation, and a large pool of knowledge resources. Furthermore, IBM enabled open inter-employee communication and enabled employees to balance work and private life.
Cons
Some managers at IBM lacked sufficient leadership skills. In a few cases, managers lacked technical skills, in a few other cases magers lacked business knowledge and/or skill. In a few instances, upper management, or Human Resources, seemed to have been fooled by ‘smooth talkers’.
