      Pros

      IBM is a prestigious company to have on your resume, but have a career there would be a challenge for even the best of employees. The stock has done well.

      Cons

      Quality US employees are finding they are underpaid and over worked. Outsourcing is bringing in under skilled workers, with customer satisfaction going down hill.

      Smart. smarter. smartest. I get to work with some really smart people -- from an industry and business viewpoint. Ability to form an extremely strong network of connections (if you are proactive) Great benefits Great corporate discounts Well established and respected company Leadership open door policy Leadership development opportunities (if you are selected)

      Cons

      I'm By Myself. Don't get me wrong. I love this company. Close to 15 years and I've progressed smoothly along the path and have made a wonderful network. The hiccup is the harder you work the better the projects and recognition but not necessarily the pay or promotion. It's wonderful to have executive management know you by name but it is frustrating to receive top performance ratings for a decade yet only received a $5K raise over the span of 10 years. That's not so good. Not sure how to get ahead.... it just seems odd to me that those who are working the hardest and smartest are not those who are promoted to Partner. What I have noticed is those who can BS, kiss butt and ally themselves to the right people skyrocket to Partner. Last time I checked I worked at IBM.....not Survivor. That's not so good.

      Clear Process but looks outdated Well documented process Good IT application to facilitate the promotion process and Global Process but not fully implemented

      Cons

      Not very transparent and Outcomes seem subjective Feedback mechanism is not robust Look like a quota based system Limited synergy between career development and day-today role
