      Pros

      There are lots of opportunities to do interesting projects as long as you get to know the right people. The home work situation is very flexible. As long as you get your work done, you can set your own timetable.

      Cons

      Too big! Sometimes the amount of administration overwhelms the delivery people on a project. For every one person providing a solution with technical skills, there is a lawyer, an accountant, and some assistant burdening the project with overhead. It's unbelievable how IBM still manages to make money.

      Pros

      If you want to the chances to spread your wings are there but they won't coming running to find you. The PBC system of appraisal, although sometimes criticized does provide a basis for you and your manager to make sure you have something to guide you throughout the year, most other companies have very little in this form. If you have the time and the energy there is always plenty going on that you can take part in outside your normal role. Be that in the formal programs through mentoring students or getting involved in innovative events like HackDay you can easily gain experience in other areas that can be used to progress you through the business.

      Cons

      Sometimes it can be hard to find the person you need to talk to and it is easy to get caught up in some of the more complex processes that seem to be created. And to that although the business wants to go in one direction and work more collaboratively the processes and sales systems sometimes work against this, everyone knows that but doesn't seem like something easy to change.
