Pros
- large organization, there are LOTS of knowledge resources available for employees to take advantage of and to learn from - experience from IBM looks great on your resume - good benefits - opportunities for advancement are available, especially in IBM Global Business Services - employees encouraged to pursue other extra-curricular activities, ie work-life balance
Cons
- large organization is also a con, sometimes difficult to navigate to find answer (IT department is a helpdesk and is VERY hard to work with). also you can feel "lost" in the organization. - you have to be willing to make your own career path, no one else can do it for you. management team is very supportive of moves within the company, but it has to come from you... This is not really a con but just an observation, can be applied at any company.
