Pros

Comparatively OK payment for starters. Still-working brand recognition. Working from home is available. Comparatively less working hours compared with competitors

Cons

Mainframe is somewhat outdated and transition to another service category is not an easy job, let alone to another department or service line. Extremely slow career advancement and dim prospectus for my current position. Personally, I don't like the highly-physically-required job!

Pros

Experience and exposure to all types of businesses and situations.Training that used to be second to none.It still looks good on your resume to have a stint with IBM. Benefits are a little better than smaller companies but have been shrinking. You might get lucky and wind up in a situation where promotion or growth is possible.

Cons

No advancement potential, very top heavy in management, too much supervision when it is not necessary. Management roulette practiced by the company, you have a different manager every 6-9 months and rarely get to know their hot buttons. The company is a bureaucracy out of control and rarely changes its ineffiecent procedures.

Pros

Great Management translates into a admirable and likable workplace. This is exactly what IBM does. Some may say that the pay is not competitive but the rewards/recognitions and other perks you get more than compensate you for it. I would recommend anyone to work here if you get an oppurtunity. IBM is really great at promoting education and self-improvement which only enhances your portfolio of assets, giving you a cuttin edge in today's market.

Cons

Starting salary is on the lower end of each bracket but again the perks/benefits more than compensate you for it.
