Unstable Company To Work For

Pros

When you first start they treat you well.

Cons

Upper management is unstable and not transparent. The bottom line is the only important thing to them, however they are good at sugar coating it. They hire and fire, then hire and fire, especially if your salary gets too high. There is a lack of trust. I feel bad for students who pay this kind of money to attend a college where credits don't even transfer to a state accredited University or Community College.

Dear Reviewer, We are disappointed to hear you were unhappy with your employment at IBMC College. We have an Open Door Policy, which allows for any faculty member, staff member or student to meet with participants of our leadership team, as well as those serving in other departments. We continue to maintain a high-level of integrity and ethics within our business, for the benefit of our students and staff alike. When it comes to understanding which credits transfer to certain institutions, it is best to reach out directly to Diana Gunderson, the VP of Education, for assistance. Pros

Getting to use the services, like Esthetician and Massage clinics, at a discount, or working out with the student personal trainers.

Cons

IBMC claims to be a "family" and the mission is "Caring Individuals...Changing Lives", however the only part that is true is there is a lot of family and nepotism in the company. People are given positions and removed from positions very quickly with little regard to experience or qualifications. There is an incredibly high turnover rate! The leadership cares more about the bottom line, enrolling students and the profit gained, than the future of the students or taking care of the employees. This is evident by the practices in place at the Colorado Springs campus after the acquisition from IMI to IBMC. Students in the same class are awarded a different number of credits depending on if they enrolled under IMI or IBMC, students’ transcripts don't accurately reflect the courses they actually took and credits they earned, students have graduated with significantly lower credits than their program requirement as indicated on their enrollment agreement, students are lied to constantly regarding the course substitutions and practices in place due to the acquisition and much of it is in violation of accreditation and department of education compliance regulations, but when employees question those practices, they are told not to worry about it or let go. The health benefits for employees are very poor and expensive. The culture is very negative and full of fear and secrecy and staff are let go right and left. The financial future of the company is a concern as staff were recently notified through an e-mail that the company’s 401k match was being eliminated, multiple staff members had company cell phones that were recently shut off because the bills were not paid and company credit cards are often declined due to reaching the credit limit.

Dear Former Colorado Springs Student Success Coordinator, We stand by our mission. We do care deeply about our students and staff. While we are a family and locally owned college, without stock holders or big corporations to be accountable to, we run our business fairly and offer equal opportunities to all employees. Our Co-Founders/Co-Owners are husband and wife; however, there currently is not any other family relations on the Executive Team or Leadership Teams at this time. We do employ select family members in other positions within the company, which are not in direct leadership roles. All individuals are treated equally and given opportunities to flourish. Please review our EEOE Policy here: https://ibmc.edu/employment/. We put our students first ahead of profits and do what is right. With having 30 years of successfully training our community’s individuals to flourish in the workplace, we have the knowledge, experience and proven ability to run a fantastic company with a high regard for honesty and ethics. In the transition of IMI to IBMC College, there were unique circumstances to overcome with differences in curriculum and credit hours. Those issues have been addressed, and there are equal credit hours and treatment among all 5 of our campuses regarding credit hours in program offerings. IBMC College has worked hard to provide excellent health, dental, vision, 401K, life, disability and other important benefits to employees. With the significant rise in healthcare premiums over the course of the last 2-3 years universally, the company took on more of the expense and only minimal increases were presented to employees, allowing our staff to keep more money in their pockets. Lastly, we make every effort to provide payments to vendors and credit card companies on time. We apologize for any disruption in service you may have encountered. Sometimes, humans make mistakes. An invoice may have been missed, but that has all been resolved. Please reach out to IBMC College’s HR Director at HR@ibmc.edu with any additional feedback. We wish you the best in our new endeavors, and thank you for the care you provided to our students during the transitional period between colleges.

Pros

Seeing the positive change in students when they really start believing they can reach their goals! Career colleges get a bad rap but this place is run ethically from what I can tell. They really care about their students and will do whatever they can to help them succeed. Also I'm not sure what another reviewer said about it being male-dominated - there are many women in top and middle-management roles (at least 50/50 if not more) so that comment is confusing... Anyway, the schedule can be tough and teaching can be exhausting but it is SO worth it for these amazing students.

Cons

Like I said, not having a set schedule every term can be a little hard, but you have choices. There can also be a lot of extra outside time prepping for new classes but...that's being a teacher. Gotta be prepared to step into that classroom, no matter how much time it takes.
