The company is a perfect example of allowing "The Brilliant Jerk" to survive and prosper. The company is publically held and their number one goal is to hit the next level of revenue. The company has allowed people who are able to sell work to be difficult, better to allow abhorrent behavior than to lose the revenue this person generates. Additionally, they allowed one Senior VP to manage a division right into the ground. A leader who had no vision and treated employees horribly. Eventually, this leader was released, but the damage and casualties along the way were to the detriment of company performance.
ICF acquires companies for their client lists and then destroys the culture and morale of the new team, losing majority of the leadership and senior management quickly. As a result the old company dies and is replaced with a backbiting, politically charged environment where nobody works together, but is only vying for the next big contractual win.
When I left, I was relieved.
