Pros

Flexibility to work from home. Good people. Office Culture.

Cons

Pay was not competitive. Benefits were not competitive. Very little work-life balance. Over-worked. I did not feel valued. Lack of transparency in promotion and salary decisions. Management of some projects were dysfunctional. Upper level management was often promoted to a position not based on merit, but by being part of a large revenue project and as a result were not effective in their positions. Office location was not great.

Pros

Flexible work schedules and working from home

Cons

Where do I begin. Upper management is a joke. Almost eveyone in the office is racist and I'd you're brown you're on your own and left to dry. No one cares about your professional growth, pay is ok, but nothing makes sense. Many of the senior staff are so self absorbed and feed off making staff feel like crap. While I was able to work from home it did not make up for the constant stares, being ignored and disrespected. Many of the projects are failing because the senior staff are out dated mentally. They want to do things as they did the 80s and it's just not effective in 2014. Just get the experience and check. If you're black be prepared to serve or be served. I worked there for 5 year and there were only 5 other black people and they made sure we stayed in our place. They have huge extravagant happy hours and holiday functions in which upper management is horribly drunk and ready for sex afterwarda. I wish I had more positive things to say but I've seen them brutally let go of good staff...dedicated staff because eveyone is out to save their own tail.

Pros

ICFI is full of very smart people -- most at the top in their respective fields.

Cons

Although many lines of business intersect, group collaboration is rare and difficult. Furthermore, employees have little work/life balance; all employees (from entry-level to senior-level) take work home every night. Employees routinely eat dinner, and get back online, emailing and working from 7:30/8:00 pm until midnight or later. Communications continue regularly throughout the evening. Employees take laptops home nightly -- not just for proposals or urgent deliverables, but for routine work. Employees work no matter what is happening in their lives -- when their parent dies, their spouse is in labor, their home burns down, they are sitting on the beach on vacation, and so on. I have led proposals and tried to reassign writing assignments for co-workers who are having a family emergency, and they would not let me. If there is any unifying culture at ICFI, it's the lack of work/life balance.
