Pros

Lots of really wonderful and intelligent coworkers; work gets done efficiently with a good team attitude. Larger company affords extensive expertise and tools to help get things done, and encourages collaboration across departments. Company growth provides opportunities for new projects and collaboration.

Cons

All about work; there are few company opportunities for socializing with coworkers, networking, and building relationships. Upper management all too preoccupied with bottom line, reiterating same tired messages at every all-hands meeting, while expending little energy to applying the company motto of "improving peoples' lives" to its own people. Work-life can often get out of balance if project is underbid and understaffed by management, and junior staff are the ones who suffer. Career advancement is difficult, especially for young people starting at the bottom. Doing great work is often not enough, need to show exceptional performance (usually translated to working extra hours) to be recognized and advanced. There's far too much of an attitude that junior staff are the workhorses of the operation, and therefore expendable and easily replaceable. Paid time off benefits are poor (3 weeks, but include sick time) and take many years of work before they can increase to a more reasonable amount.

Pros

Talented pool of workers scattered across the country Wide variety of career sectors in which to find your specialty. Benefits and community contributions are significant.

Cons

The work-life balance is not quite balanced, but it improves as one moves up the ladder. Part-time employees were segregated from many benefits, and required to use their own funds then be reimbursed for travel expenses.

Pros

People there are generally not very competitive which translates to a relatively laidback atmosphere. Company is growing really fast, acquiring a lot of new contracts. Was fortunate to acquire a lot of valuable experience and connections through my position through my own manuvering.

Cons

Mid-level managers are very hands off. You only see high-level management once in a blue moon. Employee development and retention efforts are minimal despite what they tell you during the interview process.
