Pros

Good brand and name in the ethanol industry.

Cons

Poor benefit, particularly paid time off (no sick leave). Pay is relatively low. Quality of workers is low because they won't pay to hire better ones. Most of the leaders don't know what they are doing. Company's business is subject to wild swings due to changes in regulation, laws, commodity prices, credit crunch, and market perceptions.

Pros

Flexible schedule, unlimited vacation, work life balance

Cons

Engineering is second to project management and an owner that makes decisions with his gut. Company will throw technology into the market without doing any actual engineering. Company has a bad rep in the market because they don't train engineers and throw parts at problems instead of spending the time up front to design a system correctly. Company is losing its place in the market to companies that put out products that work as advertised. Promotions happen to people who do the most work, even if it fails and is poorly executed. Manager is not a Professional Engineer, and it is not a priority for the company. Engineers are expected to have answers to problems they did not create and probably tried to stop before a PM decided to purchase. Training is not a priority either, if you work there you better already know everything or you will fall behind. Pay is 20 - 30 % below the market value.

Pros

Work is extremely challenging and interesting. Ability to work closely with some influential contributors to the Ethanol industry. Hours are flexible and ability for overtime. Never doing the same thing at any given time.

Cons

Long hours due to customers or intense protocols, may not be recommended for those with families as it stresses the household.
