Pros

There's plenty of niceties working here. They will take you on a big trip once a year, throw big parties on Fridays, offer you free massages, give you a fully stocked kitchen, and pay for your health premiums.

Cons

But sadly, this place is only worthy of two stars. Some members of the staff are untouchable, all others are informed that they can be quickly replaced. Morale here is low. It's sad because this used to be a really fun place to work. I used to have friends asking if they could submit their resumes to IMC, now my co-workers are updating their resumes over lunch. If you're interviewing at IMC, ask what the turnover is like.

Badly Managed and Very Political

Pros

The benefits at this place are fabulous. Most of the people are fun to be around (except a few who are not from the United States). Free lunch, massages, gym membership, stocked fridge all are very nice.

Cons

The issue here is management and communications. Both are missing and this is a well known fact but nothing is or will be done. The partnership is very dysfunctional so nothing really gets done and people take matters in their own hands. Very dysfunctional and badly run place in Chicago and around the world. The owners should bring in professional help and not use political partners to guide them on how to manage. The whole model is to bring in college grads who replace the older people. This revolving door mentality where you can never make a career by staying at IMC (because you will be fired once they find a college grad) is one of the worst I have ever experienced.

Pros

Like all companies this one has some pros. Most of the pros are levers that management uses to make sure people are not upset about the other things. These include benefits like company trips, iphones, lunches, drinks.

Cons

Where management and IMC goes wrong is its hypocrisy. Management thesis is that people are generally not smart to figure out the line they are being sold. So they say one thing while their actions speak another. Eventually people find out and are not happy including this poster. The problem essentially is that IMC is a dutch company and they do not trust Americans even though Chicago is their largest office. Americans do not make up an significant management in Chicago and those that did are now gone. Amsterdam sends over troops of Dutch to keep the locals in check. Another thing wrong with this place is the utter lack of experience. Average work experience here is about 2 years. This means it is like a college and decision making is very sophomoric.
