Pros

Because IMC is small, it has the ability to afford employees a good amount of ownership over the company. Most of the managers are good people with skills that can be respected, although some wouldn't be hired with current standards (lack of IT skills).

Cons

Sometimes people that have been identified as strong performers from the get-go maintain that reputation, although it may not be deserved. This also goes the other way, for the detriment of those that weren't id'd earlier. Although, I would say this is the exception.

Pros

- salary - benefits - entertainment - lunch - bar

Cons

No fairness or job security whatsoever. Best chances to make is if you 1. are able to step on everyone else's head for your own sake; 2. are Dutch; 3. kiss the right cheek No career development (unless you're Dutch) Pathetic trying of covering the bad aspects by unleashing the lawyers on the web Firing and hiring seems like a fun game

IMC Trading Response

I’m surprised to hear you feel that way. I grew up in the Chicago area and began my career with IMC 11 years ago, working in Chicago, Amsterdam, and Hong Kong along the way. I’m grateful to have been provided so much training and cool experiences along the way. Nationality is simply a non-factor and the most qualified people get the best opportunities, leading to a very diverse leadership team in Chicago. We take recruiting and retaining top talent seriously and we put a significant amount time and resources into both. Our learning and development program is structured in a way to allow people to continue to grow with us in this continuously changing industry. By offering dedicated mentors, leadership training (through the Center for Creative Leadership), and numerous skill development courses, we’ve been able to increase retention significantly and this year has seen our lowest turnover in years. Thanks for taking the time to write a review and I appreciate the recognition for our great benefits (I agree!). We take all current and former employees concerns seriously and will continue to look for ways to make IMC a great place to work.

If you like an axe hanging over your head every day....

Pros

Good money (salary and bonuses) and social benefits like annual trip, drinks every Friday night, Christmas gifts.

Cons

They don't care about their people - the only thing important to the company is making money and they use people to do just that. Because there are no clients, the 2 owners just do as they please - no conscience. Everyone might be nice to your face, but behind your back they will turn on you in an instant. Even if you've never had a bad performance review, management will fire you - immediately, just like that, no reasons given. Even if you have been there for 5 years (which is a lifetime at IMC!), there is no reward for your loyalty - you'll be out on the street before you can ask why. There is no regard for the law, fairness or human respect. People only stay because of the money - no-one is truly committed, they're just waiting for their axe to fall and get paid to leave. Toxic.
