Pros

ING Belgium offers you to take up responsibilities in a BIG organisation, with all the related challenges. It just doesn't matter if you have bank/finance professional experience, or not. The outsider expertise is much appreciated here. Grasp the opportunity! It's worth it.

Cons

The compensation package might be at the lower side, depending where you are coming from.

Pros

The benefits are top notch. Pension, 401k match, vacation/holidays are unmatched (I even get my birthday off). Base salary is competitive with other financial institutions (at least form an IT perspective), but bonuses are pretty much nonexistent. The hours are reasonable.

Cons

The day-to-day work is very unsatisfying. The entrepreneurial spirit/vision is missing from leadership (at least from a NY office perspective), which is very frustrating working in technology. The first priority from senior management is closing audit points, which is very important, but if as much energy was put into closing audits as much as servicing the business, daily activities could be more interesting. Project Management is always a challenge (unrealistic budgets/resources, politics)..... very cheap when trying to bring in help.

Pros

Ample parking. Usually have good annual bonuses. Work from home policy for just about everyone but the security guards !. Matching 401k program.

Cons

Managers have NO technical expertise. Quick to place blame on subordinates, but yet take all the credit. People get promoted for no apparent reason, and have little or now knowledge of what they are managing
