Pros

Good products and pipeline Recent changes in the senior commercial management in the uk

Cons

This website allows people to air their views on companies they have worked for, and while I agree that the reviews for Ipsen especially in Slough have been extremely negative, this reflects peoples individual experience. One contributor who is obviously well in with the correct clique said ex employees were 'poisonous' which is rubbish because these are individual experiences not a coordinated campaign. It is a very political cliquey culture and has been like this for 4 years. The people that were made redundant/sacked/resigned were not all bad at there jobs, generally they did not fit or enjoy the culture created by the senior management. I am in contact with people who are still there and sadly despite some of the ultra positive reviews the it has not changed and people are still generally unhappy.

Play the game to get ahead!

Pros

Brown nosers will get ahead with little effort, perfect company to work in if this is what you are looking for! Be part of the clique and good progression opportunities presents. Clear advantage if you are French, easy win factor. Some good products in portfolio. High profit margins result in a cash rich company. Global company with internal mobility opportunities.

Cons

- Career development: on paper performance appraisal system with career development plan. In reality communication from management team members is that the blunt reality of getting ahead in this company is not doing your work well, solving issues or working hard. Instead you are encouraged to engage in politics - there is truth to this statement, halo and horn effects are at an extreme scale in this company. Of course every company has this but had never seen this extreme in my career spanning twenty years. - IT: company appears to invest in many systems which are good tools but poor implementation simply means they remain unknown/unused, or you are forced to use terribly inefficient and limiting systems that are not value-adding or a good use of time. - Be prepared to work hard and long hours to get things done, often covering for incompetent peers who neglects their duties, only to watch them get ahead because they have been busy engaging in rah-rah while you had your head down working. - processes are often not clear and cumbersome. There is talk of agility in business so let’s hope that translates to real change.
