Pros

Learning opportunities due to increasing workload - resume builder. Process changes are good to know and have experience with but it's increasingly obvious it is ONLY about the bottom line. Big company - name recognition.

Cons

Increasing workload prevents healthy work-life balance and low morale is spreading. Minimal merit increases per year - mgmt continually cites that Quintiles' salaries are higher than competitors. Rating system is changing towards an orientation to lower ratings for everyone - gives the impression that it really doesn't matter how well you do throughout the year. Obvious orientation towards outsourcing to lower cost regions - seems to be no concern about losing some great talent in lay-offs. Low moral seems to be spreading - people at various levels are stressed and overloaded. Seems to be too many managers/levels of mgmt and Senior Mgmt appears to be completely out of touch with what's going on 'on the ground.' Lower-level mgmt is helpful as much as they can be but they have increasing inability to make final decisions at their level.

Pros

It's a job. Pays the bills. You won't get bored because you will be overloaded with demands from every direction.

Cons

Expectations for CRAs are insane. Lots of protocols, lots of sites, lots of meetings, lots of non billable work assignments that take up a large proportion of your time. You can de-prioritize the non billable stuff, but it will count against you when you don't meet the deadline for...completion of Amgen character-building integrity learning modules, just as an example. One night I actually counted- I received 200 emails during the day- one day-, and about half of them required an actionable response. Just accept the fact that you will be in a no-win situation while you are employed here, and put your resume out. Get out before you are too burnt to look for other employment.

Pros

Medical facility, small gym and cafe onsite. Lots of extras perks since a large company. Insurance is decent. If you want a constantly changing job, this is the place for you. You can barely become comfortable with what you do before you are being thrust into something else.

Cons

Management will force you into a position you do not want. They will completely redefine your job role into a position you are not even interested in. If you say no, they just say "you will do great". It must be something the learn in Management Training. Q is an arrogant company. Many people want in the door so they are not about the employee as much as they want to think they are. They could care less if you leave because someone can take your place quickly. Very "production" metrics oriented. They will load you up with non billable work and meetings, then question why you have too much non billable time! Some line managers will monitor every second you are away from your computer. Soon to have new "big brother" seating arrangement with no more cubicles. You do not even have enough space to lock your valuables or put more than 1 stack of paper on your workspace. PTO plan is awful. You only get 10 days for a whole year. You do not earn the sick time but do have 40 hrs available to use via the honor system. It is much better to have vacation and sick earned together. You will get reprimanded for using too much sick time. It is hard to really get rested up there. I have not had a week off in nearly 2 yrs. You have to be satisfied with long weekends. Very low pay for the expectations. I would rather make less money and have less stress.
