A Dead-End Job Wrapped in Favoritism and Office Politics

Pros

Nothing to mention at all. It became a dreadful experience after change in management.

Cons

The workplace is run like a popularity contest. Advancement depends on favoritism and who can flatter management, not on performance or hard work. They keep on handing task after task and expect you to just do it. But those that are the bare minimum are continuously rewarded for bare minimum efforts. There is no path for career growth; promotions and opportunities go to favorites rather than those who earn them. It’s an absolute joke. A culture of bias and exclusion is tolerated, where certain employees are treated unfairly while others are protected no matter their behavior. There have been moments of ignorance and a POC is put in the unfortunate position where they’re not able to go to HR due to a lack of empathy. Feedback is dismissed, and anyone who challenges the status quo is pushed aside.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review, although we are surprised and disappointed by your comments. At IRIS, we're committed to creating an inclusive and fair workplace where integrity and equality are the foundations of our culture. We’re delighted to have been repeatedly recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Wellbeing and for Women, thanks to our colleagues' anonymous feedback. Alongside this, our Equality score in Peakon currently stands at 9 out of 10, which puts us above the benchmark for similar companies. Providing clear opportunities for career progression is equally important to us. That’s why we have launched a comprehensive career framework, with structured learning pathways, professional qualifications, and internally advertised vacancies to support growth at every level. Our leadership development initiatives, including our dedicated leadership pathways and High Potential Programme, are designed to identify and nurture talent across the business in a fair and transparent way. We're sorry to hear that this wasn't your experience, and encourage you to reach out to our Chief People Officer, Stephanie Kelly, to discuss your concerns in complete confidence so we can help put things right. We’re always looking for ways we can be the best we can be, and we would welcome any further suggestions. Please reach out to the HR team or email EmployeeFeedback@iris.co.uk. Kind regards, the HR team

Pride abounds at IRIS

Pros

It is rare to join a company and feel the level of pride people have to work here. It's contagious! IRIS is inclusive, diverse and extremely supportive of work/life balance. Their involvement in the community is extremely high, and they provide amply paid time to allow for you to support causes and organizations. The CEO is a ball of fire, and her enthusiasm affects us all.

Cons

IRIS is still working on how best to take this awesome culture across the pond to the Americas - but, from what I've seen so far, that's a chief focus for this year.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are delighted that you recognise our passion for inclusion, diversity, and support for all our employees, which is championed by our exceptional CEO, Elona. We are proud to advocate for environmental and charitable causes and offer a generous PTO for our employees to spend time doing great things and relaxing with their loved ones. We are delighted to have expanded into North America in the last two years and have welcomed over 165 employees in Canada and the US to date. Investing in our Americas team is a core focus for IRIS and has formed one of our four key priorities for FY23. We are very proud of all our fantastic acquisitions and have refined our integration processes through experience and with a dedicated team, so that we can smoothly welcome new businesses into the IRIS family. We include newly acquired employees in our initiatives and policies, such as our IMPACT Awards to recognise and celebrate those who live our values, our Made in IRIS CEO Award which offers a $66,000 prize for a great idea that enhances our success, our High Potential Programme and international training curriculum which provide a range of developmental activities to foster career progression, and our Recommend a Friend policy to hire more great talent. We’re always looking for ways we can be the best we can be, and we would welcome any further suggestions. Please speak to your HR representative or leave a comment in our next Peakon survey. Kind regards, the HR team

Pros

Lots of laughs (mainly at the sitcom like behavior of management) and the potential to earn a significant amount for very little skill if you're willing to keep those dials up and even more if you're willing to leave your morals at the door.

Cons

Continually raising targets and unrealistic expectations. Cutting commissions and lack of support. Casual in office racism, sexism and general bullying passed off as banter.

I am very sorry that you have been impacted by the recent restructure in our Sales organisation and I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, although I am disappointed by your comments. We have zero tolerance towards discrimination or bullying of any kind and we are aware of one such incident within the Commercial team within the past 12 months which was quickly investigated and appropriate disciplinary action taken. Please feel confident that any concerns are treated with the upmost seriousness and we would sincerely request that you reach out to Stephanie.Kelly@iris.co.uk (our Chief People Officer) if there is anything you would like to discuss. We have an extremely strong record of promoting diversity and inclusion and setting very high standards for our staff – our employees rated the fair treatment of staff regardless of gender, race, age and sexuality extremely highly in our recent Great Place to Work survey (which was completely anonymous and conducted by a third party consultancy), even showing we out-perform other certified Great Places to Work™ in this area. We are very proud to be a signatory of the Race at Work Charter which underlines our commitment to the progression of BAME employees across the UK, have an extensive range of female role models at all levels of the organisation with policies in place to support and empower our next generation of female leaders and ensure fair treatment of men and women throughout the organisation, and we are recognised as a Disability Confident Committed Employer for our commitment and actions to provide meaningful work for disabled people in the UK. We regularly run training courses on equality and diversity for employees and managers, host extensive resources on our intranet pages (including unconscious bias and working within diverse teams training) and run a series of events each year designed to connect and celebrate the diversity of employees we have across the IRIS family. In regards to your other comments, we are very proud of the changes we have made as a Sales department over the past 12 months to increase the support, earning potential and opportunities available to our fantastic salespeople. In November 2020 alone, our salespeople attended 526 hours of sales training and 1-2-1 coaching, with 57 training workshops delivered for developing systems knowledge, product enablement and increasing skills and confidence; they also used our new tool (ShowPad) with its dedicated education module to upskill their knowledge for 82 hours in November, with many more expected in 2021. We are also rolling out our ‘Commercial Centre of Excellence’, with 52 attendees in December and offering additional training with 3 months of courses available to book from January onwards. Feedback from recent training courses show that this investment gives them the knowledge, tools and confidence they need to sell our fantastic products and services effectively. We're rightly proud of the robust commission structure launched in 2020 which gives our salespeople across the IRIS family access to accelerated commission rates on hitting their targets. In support of this, we were delighted to launch our new Sales Elite Club to celebrate our top performing salespeople each year. We put both our customers and our employees at the heart of everything we do (with ‘Delighting Customers’ and ‘Delighting Employees’ two of IRIS’s three core objectives), with numerous opportunities for employees to tell us what’s working well, highlight areas for improvement and share their great ideas. If you have any further feedback or suggestions you’d like to raise, you are also welcome to contact me directly. Kind regards, Chris Smith – Chief Commercial Officer
