Limited diversity is reflected at board and executive levels, which can affect how well underrepresented groups feel supported, including issues related to gender and ethnicity pay gaps. Compensation tends to fall below market averages based on publicly available salary data. Career progression opportunities are quite limited, with few clear pathways for advancement. Senior leadership performance has been inconsistent, which has affected confidence and overall direction.

As part of that commitment, we continue to strengthen our Affinity Groups and run regular inclusion events, as well as track and publish our Gender Pay Gap Report annually to drive accountability. In relation to pay, as a Real Living Wage Employer, we’re passionate about paying employees fairly and competitively for their hard work. We run a companywide annual salary review process each autumn using external benchmarking data to ensure our pay levels remain competitive with the market rate. Career progression is also hugely important to us, which is why we recently launched skills assessments to provide transparency on growth pathways. We also offer our Elevate development program, funded learning qualifications, and our High Potential Programme, as well as internal mobility opportunities to support employees in advancing their careers. We also invest heavily in our dedicated leadership pathways to ensure managers at all levels have the skills to motivate and inspire their teams. These programs include CMI-accredited courses and our “Managing with IMPACT” initiative, designed to equip managers with ongoing coaching, practical tools, and communication training to maintain high standards of leadership across the business.
